Let's Celebrate AA & NHPI Month! Part 3: Childhood Recipes + More!

Happy AA & NHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander) month! ❀️

Welcome to the final part of my AA & NHPI recipe series. In this newsletter, I'm sharing some of my fave recipes from my childhood, plus a few extras.

Ah, I can't believe we made it to the last day of this series! Thank you so much for following along. It means the world to me!

In this last newsletter, you'll find recipes that remind me of my childhood. The first one, of course, is my mom's very own leche flan recipe. It's my go-to leche flan because of how silky smooth and creamy it is. Her flan is a favorite amongst my friends, since she makes it almost every time they visit!

Other recipes in this newsletter include steamed buns (which were inspired by Filipino siopao, AKA Filipino steamed buns), cookies, macarons, and more. They're all very near & dear to my heart, so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

CHILDHOOD RECIPES

My Mom's Leche Flan Recipe

Super creamy, smooth custard topped with a rich, golden caramel sauce! This 5-ingredient leche flan recipe (7, if adding bear decorations) is fun to make and always a hit at my family parties. Thanks, mom, for the recipe!

Steamed Buns

These vegan chicken-shaped buns are ridiculously fluffy, soft, shiny, and sooooo cute. They only require 6 ingredients + your food coloring of choice! Feel free to make regular buns, or shape some cute chickens.

Chocolate Steamed Buns

These bunny buns are just like the adorable chicken ones, but stuffed with chocolate!

Milo Cookies

Soft, chewy Milo cookies that are filled with gooey, stretchy marshmallows stuffed right in the middle!

EXTRA RECIPES

Baked Cinnamon Sugar Mochi Donuts

Light, chewy, can easily be made vegan, and are naturally gluten-free! One of my FAVORITE donuts, hands down.

Thai Tea Macarons

Adorable bear-shaped French macaron shells, sandwiched together with a rich Thai tea white chocolate ganache.

Black Sesame Cookies

Soft, chewy cookies with white chocolate chunks! They’re made with toasty, caramelized brown butter, which really enhances the nuttiness of the black sesame!

Black Sesame Oreo Cupcakes

Black sesame + Oreos = one of my favorite combos! The nuttiness of the black sesame compliments the dark cocoa SO well. You'll fall in love with these cupcakes, for sure.

Thank you SO much for partaking in my AA & NHPI recipe series!

Hi friends! Last month, my strawberry matcha rolls went viral on Instagram. This month, my mom's leche flan recipe went viral! It performed 3x better than the strawberry matcha rolls. I mean, just look at how perfectly shiny the flan is, omg: The pictures I took of my flan slice were stunning, too. My partner and I joked that they even looked like AI πŸ˜‚! And because I like to cute-ify everything, I also made a bear-shaped flan for fun. I just used a bear cookie cutter and melted chocolates to...

Happy Holiday Season! I hope you've been doing well! :) I recently co-hosted a holiday cookie exchange in NYC with my good friend Trang of Trang's Kitchen Table. There were over 2 dozen cookies, multiple giveaway prizes, beautiful charcuterie boards set up by our friends Isabelle, Erika, and Arlyn, and lots of new friendships made. If you're wondering what I brought, I made 3 popular recipes from my site: earl grey sugar cookies, ube crinkle cookies, and chipless cookies! Trang brought her...
